My Word of the Year for 2026
For those of you with the attention span of a goldfish (thanks a lot TikTok)… my word for 2026 is ALIGNED.
Every January, I choose a word to guide my year ahead.
Not a resolution.
Not a rule.
Just one word that acts as a compass for how I live and make decisions.
Why This Word, This Year
This year, I wanted a word that reflects how I actually want to live…
With more fun, more flow, and a lot less forcing things to happen or trying to control everything.
I often tell the girls, our brains are the smartest things ever
but they’re also kinda dumb.
They believe whatever we tell them, whether it’s true or not, and eventually, our smart, dumb brains turn that story into reality.
So why not tell our brains what we WANT to be true, not just what we’re told is true?
What Alignment Actually Looks Like
As it turns out, alignment actually looks pretty unsexy in real life.
Pausing instead of powering through
Saying no without a long explanation
Resting even before I “earn it”
Choosing what’s right for me over what is right for others
When You’re Out of Alignment
When you’re out of alignment, life feels hard because you’re constantly correcting.
It’s like driving a car with the tires out of alignment.
You’re moving forward, but it takes a lot of effort and you have to keep making adjustments just to go straight.
But when the car is aligned, you barely have to touch the wheel. It naturally goes where it’s meant to go.
Same idea here…
What Alignment Changes
When I’m aligned, effort falls away.
My path gets clearer.
And my nervous system stops acting like I’m being chased by a sabertooth tiger and actually relaxes into the moment.
But trust me, this didn’t happen overnight. It’s been a slooooow progression.
The Evolution That Led Me Here
AUTHENTICITY.
CONNECTION.
GROWTH (always, in all ways).
UNTAMED.
RADICAL ACCEPTANCE.
TRUST.
FLOW.
And now… ALIGNED.
See how each word naturally led into the next?
Each year asked me to become a different version of myself to embody that state.
And it didn’t happen because I DECLARED it to be true.
It happened because I DID it – consistently (not perfectly).
One pause, one choice, one recalibration at a time.
The Question That Guides 2026
So for 2026, I’m not trying to DO more, BE more, or HAVE more.
I’m centering every choice I make around one question…
Is this ALIGNED AF?
And if the answer isn’t a fuck YES, it’s a fuck no. And it’s gotta go.
